Mazda has strengthened its involvement with Australian rugby by becoming the naming rights sponsor of the newly formed Australian Rugby Championship (ARC). Mazda’s involvement with the ARC builds on the company’s longtime support of two teams in Australian Rugby; the NSW Waratahs and the QLD Reds.

Central Coast Rays head coach John McKee has labelled the inaugural Mazda Australian Rugby Championships an unquestionable success.
Wallabies utility back Adam Ashley-Cooper managed to erase some of the disappointment of being eliminated from the Rugby World Cup when he watched the Central Coast Rays defeat the Melbourne Rebels in the final of the Australian Rugby Championship in Gosford on Saturday afternoon.
Central Coast Rays head coach John McKee has lauded his players for taking the opportunity to etch their names in history as the first-ever winners of the Mazda Australian Rugby Championship.
Melbourne Rebels head coach Bill Millard has talked of his pride in his team after coming within eight points of clinching the inaugural Mazda Australian Rugby Championship title at Bluetongue Central Coast Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Central Coast Rays and former Waratahs Fullback Peter Hewat is now in England, having left Australian Rugby on a high note, steering the Central Coast Rays to a 20-12 win in the final of the inaugural Mazda Australian Rugby Championship.

About the Mazda ARC
The new Mazda Australian Rugby Championship kicks off this year on 10th August, with the Final on 14th October to decide the inaugural Champions. Featuring more than 90 contracted professional players competing for teams from Western Australia, the ACT, Victoria, NSW and Queensland, the Australian Rugby Championship promises to be a national Rugby competition that is second to none.
Waratahs centre and 20 test cap Wallaby Morgan Turinui and fellow former Wallaby and current Brumbies lock Alister Campbell were in attendance at the major sponsor unveiling at North Sydney Oval.
"The ARC will open doors for a number of players moving through the club or Academy systems," Morgan Turinui said. "New Zealand has the Provincial competition and South Africa the Currie Cup and it’s good to see a similar tier of competition now in Australia," he said.
The ARU has established the ARC to provide a much-needed stepping-stone between club rugby and the elite level of the game. More than 550 applications were received from players around the country to take part in the ARC which is a fantastic response to this landmark national competition
